The Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as one of the top teams in the league in recent weeks, looking like serious contenders, especially after acquiring superstar guard Luka Dončić.
Dončić’s arrival from the Dallas Mavericks came as a surprise to many, following a trade on February 1 that caught the basketball community off guard. Few anticipated that the Mavericks were willing to part with Dončić, but if everything goes according to plan, the Lakers find themselves in a stronger position for now and potentially for the next decade.
“We all need to adjust our games for his benefit, but we understand it won’t happen overnight,” James said. “My message has been, ‘Just be yourself. You don’t have to change your game for us; we need to adapt with you.’ Whatever he needs, I’m here for him.”
The 40-year-old superstar and future Hall of Famer is known for being one of the most selfless players in the league. His primary focus is on winning, and he believes Dončić has the potential to elevate their team and ease some of James’ responsibilities.
Dončić showcased his abilities in the recent victory over the Denver Nuggets, and the Lakers are optimistic about seeing the same performance tonight against his former team at Crypto.com Arena.
