Tennessee baseball, led by head coach Tony Vitello, is gearing up for its 2025 season with high hopes of defending its national title. The journey begins in mid-February and includes a Texas-based tournament as well as a much-anticipated rematch of the College World Series (CWS) finals against Texas A&M.

The Vols released their complete schedule for the 2025 season on Thursday, highlighting their participation in the Astros Foundation College Classic and several nonconference weekend series.

Tennessee will compete against Oklahoma State, Rice, and Arizona during the Houston tournament, running from Feb. 28 to March 1. The team is also set to host Hofstra, Samford, and St. Bonaventure in early nonconference series at home. Specific game times and broadcast details will be announced later.

Midweek Matchups Include Northern Kentucky and Indiana State

Tennessee’s schedule features notable midweek games later in the season, including clashes with Northern Kentucky and Indiana State. Northern Kentucky, which participated in the Knoxville Regional during last season’s NCAA Tournament, fell to the Vols 9-3 in their first-round matchup. Indiana State has made four NCAA Tournament appearances since 2019, including hosting and winning a regional in 2023.

Additional midweek opponents for Tennessee include in-state rivals Tennessee Tech, Lipscomb, and Belmont, along with UNC Asheville, North Alabama, Radford, Xavier, West Georgia, ETSU, Queens, and Bellarmine.

CWS Finals Rematch and Conference Showdowns

A standout highlight of the 2025 schedule is the rematch against Texas A&M, set for April 4-6 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The two teams last met in the CWS finals, where Tennessee clinched its first-ever national championship with a dramatic 6-5 victory in Game 3 on June 24.

The Vols will also host CWS teams Florida (March 14-16) and Kentucky (April 18-20). Their conference slate concludes with a home series against Vanderbilt (May 9-11) and a road trip to Arkansas (May 15-17). Tennessee is scheduled to face LSU in Baton Rouge from April 25-27, a matchup of the last two national champions.

Other key SEC matchups include home series against Auburn (May 2-4) and road series at Alabama (March 21-23) and South Carolina (March 28-30). Eight of Tennessee’s 10 conference opponents reached the NCAA Tournament last year, with Auburn and Ole Miss being the exceptions. Notably, the Vols will not face Oklahoma or Texas in the inaugural season of the expanded 16-team SEC.
