In the last few years, the All-Star game has lost its meaning. The players are not competitively driven, there is no defense being played, and the number of points keeps increasing, but the competitive spirit is missing. This year, the format was changed, but it seems that it did not attract as much attention as expected.

In addition to the proposal for a 1v1 format next year (which we will also discuss), superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo made a very interesting suggestion: a Team USA vs. Team World matchup.

Considering that in the last 10 years American players have not dominated as they did in the past, and when you look at the fact that the last American MVP was Steph Curry (not counting Embiid, who became an American before the Olympic Games), Team World could even be considered the favorite in that matchup. Everyone has always wondered what a game like this would look like, and now it’s a topic that could actually become a reality and show us a true war on the court.

Team USA vs. Team World

Imagine a starting five of Curry, James, Durant, Edwards, and Davis going up against Shai, Luka, Wagner, Giannis, and Jokic—a true clash of basketball masters. In addition to this proposal, there is also a suggestion for the game to be played in a global metropolis like Paris, London, Rio, or even China, which would generate even more massive attention.

Judging by the reaction of fans and people from the basketball world, this sounds like a very interesting proposal. However, it would probably be more special if it happened just once, especially at this moment when all the top players are available.

But in the long run, it would probably lose its charm. However, we believe that the NBA owes us a spectacle like this, and we hope they will make it happen next year.
